Founded in 2008 by David Belt, Macro Sea exists as a series of collaborations between experts in a wide variety of disciplines. We work with artists, architects, designers, scientists, lawyers, city governments, financiers, arts organizations, and others.

Macro Sea has executed projects in the built environment and conceptual realms, in New York City and around the world. Our work has been featured in MoMA and the Venice Biennale.

Our mission is to do projects that we find interesting, working with people we love:

Glassphemy!

2010
Brooklyn

For a certain class of consumer, recycling is nothing more than a “guilt reliever,” a green idea that happens in an abstract elsewhere. We wanted to make it visceral, so we built a steel tower specifically designed for people to hurl bottles at. A chance to let out aggression while reflecting on waste and its potential for transformation.
