The suburbs
Our focus on reimagining places for culture and community started here. On a trip back to his family home in the suburbs of Philadelphia, David saw the impact of the 2008-9 financial crisis in a changing landscape. Strip malls were shuttered, and these junk spaces felt like a legacy. The best and highest purpose of any work in adaptive reuse is to serve the needs of the community that surrounds it. This thinking birthed Macro Sea as it exists today.
